First a quickie story… When Farmer Jim feeds a round bale the guys are often locked into a pasture away from the feeding zone. That way Kristi can open the big gate for the tractor to come in and out without Luc escaping into the dark wintry night taking Liberty with him. To pull this off the gents are cohered into the holding area with a treat they absolutely love; tiny hay pellets. These are fed in buckets that hang over the cable on the fence. The pellets were long gone by the time the hay bale was set in place and Jim arrived to open the gate. To entertain himself while waiting, Luc had been mouthing the double snaps that are attached to a chain which locks the gate. He would really like to figure out how to unsnap them all by himself, without people help. This time he had turned the chain all the way to his side of the enclosure so the snaps were in his mouth, luckily still snapped! Now Liberty was standing behind Luc with one of the feed buckets in his mouth...... Look for last months Luc and Liberty's Happy Dance story to be published in March issues of The Brayer and Mules and More magazines thanks to their wonderful editors. The boys in donkey whispers say “Thank You”! February in North Central Idaho was a month that went from holding up in the donkey palace; to getting out and playing in the newly fallen snow:
Finally a little of this, here’s Jim with curry comb in hand and two very eager dirty boys:
Driving this month would have looked liked these Ice Sculptures from McCall, Idaho’s Winter Carnival
In March, I am hoping it looks more like this:
