It’s December, a time of reflection, a time to look forward and a time to say thank you.

As I watch the snow falling I think back to a year ago when we were battling hoof problems with our problem child Dev and noticing the hooves on the other donkeys were starting to do the same thing. After a great deal of research we came to the conclusion that it was selenium toxicity. As our research continued it was discovered that inorganic selenium seemed to be the culprit. For more info on this topic check out the informative articles at www.horseguard.com In January Dev and the others were taken off some of the vitamin/mineral products I had used for many years. The change was immediate on Luc and Liberty. Dev’s hooves steadily improved and I am sure will return to the beautiful strong healthy hooves he had upon his arrival.

In September, Dev moved on to Day Star Farms in Oregon. I am thrilled to report Duane, Sue, Lori and Brian are doing extremely well with his retraining program. He even made an appearance at the Oregon Trail Show in November.

As we look towards the future…. Whell you’ll have to wait a little longer. In January we’ll make the announcement of the 2008 Team Donk Destination Plans. We sincerely hope you’ll stop by and say howdy when our paths cross!

The Thank You’s include many, in fact too many to list. So here’s to our wonderful webmasters Richard and Kelly. Without them none of this would be possible. We are now into our second year of the team donk website. It’s their love of donkeys and encouragement that has brought this site to your computer. It will give you great insight into their caring and loving hearts.

To Luc, who has now been a part of our lives for over five years, thank you for teaching us how much fun donkeys can be and just exactly how much you are capable of. At this writing you are still a bottomless pit of what donkeys can do. To Liberty who found his way here two years ago…. Thank you for teaching us how intelligent donkeys can be and for your gentle, kind and loving soul. To Dev for showing us your individualism and that not all donkeys fit a generic mold. Best wishes for a happy and successful life.

Thank you to all our loyal readers. We have made so many new friends and appreciate hearing from you. Another deep appreciation is to those who have linked our site to theirs, we thank you for helping others find us. We cannot forget our driving trainers, Jack and Helen Eden, again without you there would be no team donk! To everyone with a camera, thanks for those photographic memories.

To my family for putting up with all this fun! Speaking of family I wish to share our Christmas Gift from our daughter, Mitzi, and her husband, Justin. This is a painting of Luc (above) just being his naughty little self and Liberty who would like to join in on the fun. Susan uses acrylics and was able to capture the boy’s distinct personalities. She told me that she is a self taught, seat of the pants painter.
