WANTED: One Perfect Donkey…
FOUND: The Perfect Donkey!

I can guarantee this was love at first sight! When we drove into the Kyle residence out of a handsome barn completely at will strolled the "Wal-Mart Greeter" it was Mas Ass Acres Liberty. He’s never met a stranger in his life and still hasn't. He allowed me run my hands all over him and pick up all four feet not even a halter on this huge guy... he had no clue who I was, very undonkey like. He trusts everyone explicitly which proves he has never been mistreated.

We spent the next day watching him in action. He would wander around the grounds performing his job as "Farm Activity Director". He visited the mules, the Jack pen, ran over to visit with the jennets and mini’s then back to the geldings just having fun stirring up mischief where ever he went! What a kick it was to see him in action!

He was perfect for us in every way. I needed to validate my donkey training techniques and he was ready to put me to the test. Liberty is a thinker, he is highly intelligent. He had us totally convinced he could not lead and was able to slip a halter off or eat his way out of one in a heartbeat when tied. He went for many long walks and learned that a neck collar will keep a halter in place. We finally proved to him that we were worthy of his highness.

Liberty has the kindest heart and gentlest soul of any creature I have ever met. The cats share his food dish; magpies are welcome to perch on his back. When first driving he had to stop to visit with all the cows and horses along the way. Where ever he is on the farm he knows exactly where we are at all times and he cares what we are up to! There is no escaping his watchful eye.

Everything comes easy to Liberty, maybe it has to do with his serene demeanor and genteel nature. He is an Idaho Gem and we are so grateful he is part of Team Donk.
